Fellow Pool Players:

The membership meeting for the Fall 2010 season was held at ELEVATION on Tuesday August 31st. It was a very well attended meeting. About 18 people were present.

Bill S. presided over the meeting.

• Minutes from last season's meeting were approved

• The treasurer's report stated that the league was in the black by $108

A general discussion on new issues followed. Here is a summary of items discussed:

By Laws - It was decided by a majority vote that the By Laws should be addressed at the mid season mark by a committee whose specific duty it would be to work from presented drafts and through additions and deletions, come up with a finalized document to present to the membership for a vote. The Inter City tournaments schedule against San Diego and San Francisco drew a mixed response and this will be one of the first orders of business of the new board.

Start of the season: A majority vote has the Fall 2010 season starting on Sept 7th, 2010 (next Tuesday)

Alternate Players: By a majority vote now, it is now possible for a player to play 1 game and have another player take his place to play the remaining three. This eliminates the rule that alternates must play 2 games.

Playoff Eligibility: By a majority vote a player must now play or be present for 50% of the season to be eligible to play in the playoffs. (This does not mean he has to play 50% of his available games)

Conflicts during matches: By a majority Vote it was decided that to avoid conflicts, there will be one assigned player per team that will act as his teammate's eyes during his game. The assigned player does not have to be the captain and can be a different person per game. This must be communicated to players before the start of each game. Only the player and his assigned teammate can be involved should a dispute occur. NO OTHER TEAM MEMBERS ARE ALLOWED TO INTERFERE.

Timeouts: By a majority vote it was decided that only one person can be involved to give advice during timeouts.

Member's Forum: Please post your thoughts, ideas, frustrations etc. All members will be able to respond to you postings. PLEASE use this online forum, it has been created for your use.

The main item of business followed these discussions. The election of a new board.

Your new board for the Fall 2010 and Spring 2011 season are:

• LANE - TREASURER
• DAVE B. - STATASTICIAN

Registration of teams: A total of 8 teams registered for the Fall 2010 season. If you are thinking of starting a new team, please hurry, you only have another two days. Elevations and the Barracks need a team.

Other items:

• A team roster sheet was handed out to each captain. Captains should fill out the sheet with their team's name, player's names and dues paid. Completed roster sheets should be handed in to our new treasurer, Lane. Please be creative with your team's name.

Player dues are now $20 per player and the bar dues are also $20 per player. CAPTAINS - please communicate with your sponsoring bar re: dues payable by them and please turn over all monies collected to out Treasurer, Lane.

• From this season onwards: The start time is 7:00pm NOT 7:30pm.

• Please email me if you need a team roster sheet emailed to you or ask Lane if you need a hard copy.

• The season schedule will be emailed to you by Friday evening.

Any questions, please communicate with your captain. All board members are also available to you should you have any questions or suggestions.

Hi Everyone:

I hope all of you are having a good summer!

The Fall 2010 season begins in September. Start date will be determined by the number of registered teams. Seems like we will have more than 6 teams for the fall season. There are bars that are still looking for teams. Please email me for more info. You will see sign up sheets posted at various bars. This is to encourage new members to join our league. The sign up sheet can be downloaded by clicking here. Please use it to promote our league at various bars. Our collective efforts will help expand our league.

Please register and join the Member's Forum. Go to www.PSPoolleague.org and click on the 'members forum' button.

Just a few points of interest:

PRE-SEASON MEETING ON SEPTEMBER 7th at 7 PM - LOCATION TBA

* Nomination of new board members to fill the vacant positions.
* Registration of Teams
* Discussion on whether to Include a Sportsmanship award or not
* Discussion regarding increasing the number of our league tournaments
* Discussion on the upcoming Fall Inter-city tournaments
* Discussion on the qualifiers for the Inter-city tournaments
* Discussion on using the member's forum as an interactive discussion board for league related issues
* Open forum - your concerns, suggestions and feedback

 

ELEVATION BAR POOLTOUNAMENTS (760) 328 6824

-Every Wednesday at 7pm and Saturday at 4pm (please show up 1/2 hour early)
-There is no buy in fee, unless the players agree to something for second place or something.
-1st place prize is $50.00 with a minimum of 8 players.
-The tournament director is the bartender on duty, typically Eddie for Wednesday nights.

During the Top/Bottom tournament last season there were several items that were voted on. Below is a summary of the results provided by Bill S. on 3/24/2010

3/24/2010 - Ballot items and results were as follows:

1. Having discussions with the San Francisco/ SD Pool Leagues about a fall tournament here - 17 Yes, 6 No

2. Changing the night of league play - Tuesday - 9, Wednesday - 7, and Monday - 5 votes, so no change

3. Changing start time to 7 PM, 17 Yes, 5 No so for the fall season we will shift to a 7 PM start

4. Increasing dues from players and bars - 15 Yes and 8 No - dues for the fall will increase to $20 for players and we will negotiate with bars for an increase to $20/25 per player

5. Awarding trophies for teams and individuals - 17 Yes and 7 No, so with the fall season we will resume awarding trophies

6. Impact of new Sportsmanship Award - 23 Yes it has resulted in a better playing environment, 1 No

One player wrote in adding tournaments for each season and another wrote in asking for a longer season, both items will be considered by the board.
