Fellow Pool Players:

The organizational meeting for the Spring 2010 season was held at Hunters on Tuesday, Feb 2nd. It was well attended by the members of the board, team captains, various team members and potential new players.

Bill S, the president, started the meeting congratulating the past season's first place team - CLUB W, the Fall 2009 season's Championship Winners - HUNTERS A, and the individual Champion - Brad H.

Jim B provided the treasurer's report, stating that the League, after all expenses, had managed to stay in the black.

The major issue on hand was to fill the vacancy of the secretary position left open upon the resignation of Lew G., a long standing member of the board and pool league. Lew's service to the league has been invaluable and all of us owe him a huge THANK YOU for all his efforts and service. THANK YOU, LEW.....HURRY BACK!

Jim B nominated Robby N to fill the position of secretary. This was seconded by Dan S. A motion was put forth to all present and the decision was unanimous. Robby N. is now the secretary and a board member for the Spring 2010 season.

The next item on hand was to discuss the date for the start of the spring season. Feb 16th was chosen unanimously. This will give all captains ample time to finalize their team rosters. Currently we have 6 teams that have registered. There is still time for additional teams to join the league...so get busy guys. The more, the merrier! Please provide your team rosters to

either Jim B. or Dave B.

A buy-in impromptu tournament followed the meeting. The Hunters bar was nice enough to sponsor the tournament. Twelve players registered and after some close, competitive games, Dan S emerged as the winner ($50) with Darin ($22) coming in as the runner-up.

Now for some exciting news..... RichRob Rentals, a local vacation rental company, has proposed to sponsor a SPORTSMANSHIP Award in an effort to promote the league and to offer an incentive for all teams to display friendly, fair play within a competitive environment. The award will be presented to the team that displays consistent, superior sportsmanship for the duration of the entire season. The award is a McDermott Nitro pool cue with a soft case for each member of the winning team.

A full discussion regarding the above proposal followed – with the board unanimously approving the award for the Spring 2010 season. Dave B. will collect and track the stats for the sportsmanship award.

How will the winner be decided?

At the end of weekly play, each team must collectively rate their opposition on listed

criteria on a 1 – 10 scale. The points will accumulate weekly. Online reporting of the running totals for each team  will be posted every 3 to 4 weeks.. The team with the most points at the end of the season will be named the winner. In the event of a tie, the deciding vote will be cast by the board. For additional details, please ask your team captain.

On a personal note, I humbly accept the secretary position.  Thank you everyone for your support and encouragement through my 'rookie' season. I continue to make new friends each week and all of you have been most welcoming, Thank you!

I encourage your input on my efforts and also your suggestions to the board, so that we can

make the league even better....together!

Robby N., Sec.
